Eight months ago, I published an article about my first year in the life planning journey, and wow—what a transformation it’s been! Life planning isn’t just about finances; it’s an ongoing process of aligning your actions with your core values and building a fulfilling, intentional life. As I reflect on the progress I’ve made, I’m amazed at how far I’ve come in such a short time.

Career Milestones: From Certification to Writing a Book

In January, after getting my RLP® designation (including Seven Stages and EVOKE training, as well as immersive mentorship), I officially launched my Couples and Money group coaching program. The results were amazing: financial vigilance increased by 28%, clarity grew by 36%, and financial stress decreased by 30% in just three months! 💪

The best part? The topics that came up in the program were far beyond my expectations. We discussed communication, love, gratitude, fear, career transitions, aging parents, parenting, investment regrets, financial freedom, holistic well-being, purpose—and so much more. It’s been a journey of collective growth, and I’m excited to keep helping couples build stronger relationships and financial futures. 🌱

I also started writing my book, The Power of Us: Transforming Your Relationship and Money. I’d been thinking about it for a couple of years, but only decided on the topic after FinCon in October of 2024. This book is all about many much more meaningful things to pay attention to and skills to build on your journey to financial freedom—emotional connection, open communication, shared goals, and realistic action plan. I've learnt so much in my own journey as well as from serving my clients! Writing this book is my way of sharing these insights and offering others a path to greater financial and emotional harmony.

Marriage: Growing Together with Purpose

This year, I also took life planning into my own marriage. From January to March, while running my group coaching program, my husband and I did all the exercises in the program together as well. And let me tell you, it was a heart-opening and mind-blowing experience! We had deep, honest conversations without the emotional turmoil that so often complicates and derails these discussions. It felt incredibly refreshing to communicate openly without judgment. 💬❤️

In April, we made an important decision: we further delayed the profit goal for my business to 2027. Don’t get me wrong—profit is still important, but it’s no longer the top priority for now. Instead, we’re focused on building a strong, sustainable life plan with a shared vision and a full commitment to making the most of our journey. Spoiler alert: We’re planning to spend a year in Asia from summer 2026 to summer 2027! 🌏 I’ll continue serving my clients remotely, balancing my business with this exciting new chapter.

Parents: Empowering Change and Supporting Growth

As for my parents, the last few months have been a true milestone. Last October, my mom explored working with therapists, but didn’t find the relief she wanted. By January, after a family trip around Chinese New Year, she began to realize how her anxiety had been impacting our family and relationships. In April, we had deep, meaningful conversations that empowered her to reclaim her happiness and authenticity. 💖

Through these conversations, I realized something profound: life planning isn’t just about making numbers work—it’s about helping others understand themselves, tap into their deepest desires, and ignite the intrinsic motivation to take meaningful action. As a planner, it’s also my responsibility to help clients see what they may not be aware of. For my mom, constantly taking care of others at the expense of her own well-being felt familiar and safe. But in reality, it wasn’t serving her—or anyone—long-term. She needed to find her own happiness and identity, free from others’ expectations.

This was hard for her at first (like many women I know, especially those raised in traditional families where women are expected to be the caregivers and hold relationships together). But by actively listening, without attachment to the outcome and wholeheartedly in her best interest, I helped her gradually step into her own truth. Over time, she found her happiness, began standing up for herself, and embraced her authentic self. By doing this, she didn’t just thrive—she became an even stronger support for those around her.

Looking Ahead: The Journey Continues

This journey has been full of growth, learning, and deep connections. The beauty of life planning is that it isn’t just about managing money—it’s about living with intention, building relationships, and embracing each step of the journey with love and clarity.

I'm excited to see where this path leads - both for me, my family, and my clients. Life planning is truly a gift that keeps on giving, and I can't wait to continue making an impact!

Here’s to the rest of 2025 and beyond! 🚀🌱
